SUSPICIOUS CHARACTERS

With suspects like these, you’ll need to try every trick in the book!

BONKERS? Legendary WWI fighter ace and the face of Pilot Brand Cigarettes, this debonair chap may have completely lost his wings!

Corporal Crow

HAUGHTY? The radiant dame of England’s opera scene has some notes for you - but has her glow faded?

Dame Credenza

SURLY? The estate gardener would rather tend to his roses than deal with the likes of you!

 Mr. Muckmire

MURDER: Anywhere!

Trickster’s MURDER FOR HIRE comes to the party!

Your Company Picnic, Conference, Birthday, Engagement - you name it, we’ll kill it! Any venue that is exclusively yours to use can host this game: a conference space, school hall, restaurant, winery or established garden - even yours!

Try these on for size:

Olveston / Corstorphine House / Glenfalloch / Larnach Castle

We’re in Dunedin but we can travel to you if you need a murder where you are.

Solve the Case with VERITY CHASE!

Who better to help conduct your investigation than County Gazette reporter, Verity Chase!

Whip-smart and full of vim, Verity brings out the very best in your team.

For the DRINKERS and the THINKERS!

How you play is up to you - are you a crack detective or just a crack up?

With such a playful approach, Murder For Hire! accommodates everyone’s level of engagement. There’s no pressure to participate and it’s easy to contribute from the sidelines.

Take notes of all kinds!

Not everyone gets the joke…

Quoits!

For the PLAYERS!

Some plucky punters get to don hats and props to contribute evidence as “Witnesses”!

For the TRICKSTERS!

Try every trick in the book! Questioning works - but you’ll also have to snoop, charm and distract!

Joining the dots takes curiosity, ingenuity and just a dash of empathy…

 FAQs

  • WHERE & WHEN? Anywhere you like, anywhen you like. We come to you. Travel outside Dunedin will incur an additional cost for the Trickster Tour Bus.

TIME & LOCATION? The narrative setting is a summer garden party - but yours doesn’t have to be! The game works equally well indoors at night.

WHAT’S THE DURATION? For the best experience we suggest between 90 minutes and 2 hours - depending on your requirements. It’s a casual thing so this provides a comfortable and hilarious investigative experience without overcooking the goose.

DEATH WITH DINNER? Best not. Like trying to juggle and read at the same time, both things suffer. Plan your meal before or after your Murder For Hire! If you’d really love an integrated dining/solving experience, see A Night To Die For.

COLD OPEN: Straight to the death. There’s no mucking around here - we simply roll out the body and let the screams fly! TIMELY opted for the game to be a complete surprise!!! It’s up to you.

  • HOW MANY PLAYERS? For the most fun we recommend between 20 and 50 guests. Any more than this may become unruly - and that’s just not what you’re about. Having said that, if a larger group option is your bag, then please talk to us- we’re nothing if not flexible!

COSTUMES NEEDED? Your guests needn’t dress up for your party - we provide plenty of colour. But if you do enjoy the 1920s, well ain’t that the cat’s pyjamas? Go on.

FAMILY FRIENDLY? If you mean “can grandma and little Tyson play” then yes they can - we adjust on the fly. But it is about murder so this game has a PG rating. It’s your call hotshot.

IS THIS AN ACCESSIBLE GAME? Yes. Those with movement impairment, hearing or intellectual disabilities can totally play and have a fun time! Our responsive actors and the supportive nature of the team setup allow everyone to feel safe and included.

“The characters were played very well, many LOLs were had.”

I really liked the parts where we talked over the evidence with the group and the Sleuth.

— Alison

“Immersive, ridiculous fun!”

— Richard S.

The team pitched the tone really well - suspension of disbelief with a healthy wink at the silliness of the situation.

— Catherine Wright

I loved improvising with the suspects - distracting them while other team members stole things was awesome.

— Catherine Wright

The characters were brilliant and the story was complex enough to be a real challenge to follow.”

— Catherine Wright

The right amount of silly!

— Alison

“I was sad when it finished.
